I received this question from a mom who has never cruised and is worried her two teen-aged kids will get bored on a Carnival Cruise. Here is my response:
Carnival Fun Ships have a fun high-energy vibe with activities, parties, and events happening non-stop. On sea days the Lido deck has a live DJ playing music, entertaining folks and running contents, ex: hairy chest contest, Line Dancing, dance off, etc. This is not “your grandmother’s cruise line” ….unless your grandma is a wild woman.
There are TWO teen clubs (one for younger teens and one for older tees) with their own age-appropriate activities and parties. Parents love Carnival because the kids are so well taken care of.
On port days you can enjoy shore excursions like snorkeling, zip-lining, tubing, swimming with dolphins/stingrays, horseback riding, day at a beach park, and more.
PLUS there is a gym, a spa, a casino, two comedy clubs, Ladies only pamper parties in the spa, Bridge & Bingo Tournaments, an Art Gallery with live auctions, Build-a-bear workshops, and The Fun Shops (a mini-mall).
For food you have two main dining rooms serving a semi-formal breakfast/brunch and a dinner. There’s the Lido buffet which is open for breakfast/lunch/dinner and snacks if you want to spend the entire week in your bathing suit. There are several speciality restaurants including a steakhouse and Guy Fieri’s Burger Joint. There is 24-hour Pizza, self-serve hot dogs, and soft-serve ice cream. And lastly…24-hour room service.
Needless to say she was thrilled with all the options. 🙂
