If you’re worried about expensive travel delays or trip interruptions due to COVID-19 consider Travel Protection from Allianz Partners.

Just about everyone is ready for a vacation, but you may have concerns like:

  • What happens if you are asymptomatic but test positive for COVID-19 at your destination?
  • What benefits are available to you if you contract COVID-19 mid-trip and must quarantine?
  • What happens if you are denied boarding due to a suspected illness?
  • Can you be reimbursed for COVID-19 medical care?
  • What if your travel partner tests positive? Will you also be covered?

In response to travelers who are looking for coverage specifically related to today’s travel environment, Allianz Partners is now including new epidemic-related covered reasons into some of their most popular travel insurance plans. This is a very big deal because in the past Allianz travel insurance products do not cover claims due to known, foreseeable or expected events, epidemics, government prohibitions, warnings or travel advisories, or fear of travel.

These new benefits do vary by state; where available, these new covered reasons include:

Trip Cancellation Benefits

  • Epidemic-related illness (including of the insured, their traveling companion, or their family member)
  • Individually-ordered quarantine* of the insured or their traveling companion

Trip Interruption Benefits

  • Epidemic-related illness (including of the insured, their traveling companion, or their family member)
Individually-ordered quarantine* of the insured or their traveling companion

Travel Delay Benefits

  • Denied boarding due to suspicion of epidemic- or pandemic-related illness of the insured or their traveling companion

Emergency Medical and Emergency Medical Transportation Benefits

  • Epidemic-related illness of the insured

*Benefits for quarantine due to an epidemic only apply when an eligible traveler is specifically named and individually-ordered to quarantine (not including generally or broadly applicable quarantines). Benefits may not cover the full cost of your quarantine and are subject to applicable benefit limits. See plan documents for details.
