It’s true! Carnival has partnered with Clean The World, a global leader in sanitation sustainability, to recycle the nearly 40 tons of discarded soap from their ships guest and crew staterooms and recycle it into more than 400,000 new soap bars.
Nearly 2 million children a year die due to hygiene-related diseases; through its efforts, Clean the World, has contributed to a 60% reduction in the death rate of young children worldwide.
The soap recycling initiative was piloted on Carnival Victory and will be rolled out across their North American fleet by the end of July.
Hotels and cruise lines around the globe produce a significant amount of waste, including soap and bottled amenity waste, but Clean the World, a global social enterprise and a leader in global health dedicated to WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and global sustainability, is working hand-in-hand with hotels, recycling partners and others to reduce that waste.
With headquarters in Orlando and recycling centers in Orlando, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Punta Cana and Amsterdam, Clean the World is a social enterprise dedicated to saving millions of lives around the world while simultaneously diverting hotel waste from landfills.
